Warden's Welcome
Welcome to Section 3 Division A of New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Section 3 wardens and crew pride themselves in protecting life, property and the woods from the ravages of wildfire, both here in New Jersey and around the nation.
The section motto is “Safety through training and crew retention” and this is demonstrated through the courses the section sponsors throughout the year. Additionally we sponsor a pig roast in August to raise money to send firefighters to the New York State Wildfire Academy in October. The section holds quarterly meetings for the membership and are precluded with a quarterly newsletter which keeps the membership notified of upcoming events. The section holds a picnic each summer and a Christmas party in December.
Catfish Firetower is located in Section 3 and is instrumental in early detection of fires and communications for our units in the field. If you haven’t already been there I suggest a visit to these towers, the views are fantastic.
The section holds spring and fall field training days as well as annual prescribed burning projects. The section also has an ongoing trail work program. Recently completed 30 miles of trail in Worthington State Forest and currently working on trail projects in the local camps. Annually participate in many fire prevention programs. Plan on attending a section activity we would be glad to have you. My personal motto for the fire service is, “Put the fire out, be safe and have fun.
